Alexa Suess
Town Councilwoman
Alexa Suess is a Greenport native with deep roots on the North Fork. She spent her childhood on the docks while her father worked on boats, and that connection to the working waterfront shapes her commitment to keeping Southold accessible to working families. Like many young people who grew up here, she was encouraged to leave after high school — there simply weren't enough options to stay. She headed to New York City for college, but Greenport pulled her back. She returned, put down roots, and built Common Ground, a metalsmithing and jewelry studio on Main Street in Greenport, where she and her husband Adam live with their dog Freyja.
Her commitment to Southold goes beyond her studio — she once walked over 100 miles from New York City to Greenport to raise money through her "Miles for Medical Debt" initiative, relieving over $700,000 of healthcare debt for local residents. She is a champion of affordable housing, small business vitality, and expanded resources for young people, and believes that practical, data-driven solutions — built through communication, cooperation, and compromise — are the key to making Southold more resilient and prosperous for everyone.
Alexa has served on the Town Board since January 2026, becoming one of the youngest people ever elected to the board.
