ABOUT SOUTHOLD DEMS
The Democratic Committee for Southold Town, the Southold Dems, works to elect Democrats to local, state, and national offices. We recruit and nominate candidates for local office, and provide assistance during their campaigns. Our work includes assisting democratic candidate campaigns, circulating petitions, providing voter and election information to democrats, fundraising, organizing canvassing and phone banks, and more.
ABOUT SOUTHOLD TOWN
Southold Town is on the Eastern End of Long Island, occupying most of the North Fork. Established in 1640, it includes 10 hamlets – Cutchogue, East Marion, Fishers Island, Greenport West, Laurel, Mattituck, New Suffolk, Orient, Peconic, and Southold, as well as the incorporated Village of Greenport.
What We’ve Achieved
In 2020, we surpassed the Republicans, and for the first time in decades have more registered Democrats in Southold Town
In 2021, Democrats won 6 of the 7 seats for which we ran candidates.
In 2022, Democrat Bridget Fleming beat her opponent in Southold Town.
In 2023, Democrats won another 5 seats in Town government. Creating a majority in Town Council of 4 D vs. 2 R.
In 2024, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz won by 6 points in Southold Town. John Avlon won by 4 points.
In 2025, Democrats won 10 out of 12 races for Town and County offices: 5 re-elected incumbents and 5 newly elected candidate, including winning back our County Legislature seat.
Today the Southold Town Council is a super majority Democratic, 5:1.
Today the Southold Town Trustee Board remains 80% Democratic
Democrats have changed the narrative in Southold Town, working to stop gridlock and bring transparency and accountability to town government.
