Dan Ross

Town Justice

Dan Ross has called Mattituck home since 1986; he and his wife Karen raised their three daughters here on the North Fork — Kaitlin, Jillian, and Megan. He arrived with a B.S. from SUNY Cortland, a J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law, and admission to the New York State Bar in 1982, along with four years of professional legal experience.

Dan promptly established his own practice in Mattituck. In 1993 he was brought on as a partner by Keegan & Keegan, Ross & Rosner — a full-service law firm with long-standing ties to Suffolk County. Over his career he has represented clients before the Supreme Court, Justice Court, County Court, and Family Court in matters spanning personal injury, matrimonial, criminal, real estate, and municipal law. He also served as Village Attorney for Greenport from 1991 to 1994, Village Attorney for Patchogue from 1996 to 2000, and as a Southold Town Councilman from 2004 to 2007. He is a member of the New York State and Suffolk County Bar Associations and the NYS Magistrates Association. He has served as Southold Town Justice since 2019.

Beyond the bench Dan has been deeply engaged in the life of the community. He coached youth soccer and CYO basketball for 20 years, is former Chair of the Board of Directors of the San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in Greenport, and is a member of the Mattituck Chamber of Commerce and the Mattituck Lions Club.
