Liz Gillooly

Town Trustee

Liz Gillooly is a sailor, small business owner, and environmental steward with deep roots in the Greenport community. She is Director of Operations at the North Fork Arts Center, where she oversees complex projects and builds the organizational systems that keep a thriving cultural institution running. She is also a USCG-licensed sailboat captain and the founder of Layla Sailing, a women-led charter business based in Greenport. Being on the water is not just her profession — it is where her commitment to protecting Southold's coastal environment is rooted and renewed.

Liz has served on the Southold Town Board of Trustees since January 2022. In her first term, she served as liaison to the Conservation Advisory Council and the Peconic Estuary Partnership, strengthening the town's presence in regional environmental initiatives. She played a key role in updating the Trustee chapters of the town's municipal code — codifying what had previously been informal precedent, making the process more transparent and accessible to residents. She was re-elected in November 2025.

In March 2025, Liz and her husband [NAME] welcomed their first child — a milestone that has only deepened her commitment to protecting Southold's lands and waters for future generations.
